Sherpa GFT 2 – 7 January, 2016

Sherpa
2 – 7 January, 2016
Sherpas are Nepalese mountaineers who often act as guides for those wanting to scale the Himalayas, the highest mountains on earth. In 2014, documentary filmmaker Jennifer Peedom set out to make her third feature about the Nepalese people, just days before a deadly avalanche took the lives of 16 Sherpas. The film Peedom ended up making offers a remarkably sensitive exploration of the Nepalese people’s grief, contrasted with the disappointment of tourists and tour organisers trying to protect their interests. A morally complex piece, strikingly shot in one of the most breathtaking locations on Earth.
