Arielle Shear's alluring boutique in Kelvinbridge is surely one of Glasgow's most stylish clothes shops. Whether your plans are to go clubbing, partying or just to impress in the chicness stakes then 'Doll' is well worth a visit. Her idea is to offer her clientele "something between the High Street and extremely expensive shops". In attempting to respond to her clients' desires, Arielle has turned sourcing into something of an art form and pulled together a unique range of beautiful clothes and irrestible accessories.

In choosing both the decor and stock, Arielle seems to have been influenced more by Los Angeles and Paris rather than any British store. At Doll she has created a rather exotic ambience with dark walls that create a perfect backdrop for the pretty pastels, brightly coloured dresses, cosy knits, patterned tights and gorgeous jewellery. There are lots of glamourous little dresses and sparkling accessories for evenings out and cosy tops, jeans and jackets to see you through the winter. Even the 'LNA' t-shirts and hooded tops are special with their soft, fine fabric - little wonder they are in such high demand.

She is proud of the fact that she caters for shoppers, who are following the trends, however, she balances this with by keeping a discerning eye open for high quality and unusual items. This approach has brought her a clientele aged from 16 - 60 and quite a few boyfriends and husbands, who've been pointed in her direction when looking for gifts. A further advantage is that Arielle is available for advice and to provide a personal service and you'll have fun trying on your selection in the boudoir style changing rooms.

There are fabulous dresses and tops in the most beautiful colours and materials by SKY in L.A.. Her Jbrand jeans are another popular item and latex and lace leggings by Kova&T (Roman Abramovitch's girlfriend) will satisfy anyone inspired by Victoria Beckham, the Olsen twins and co.

Also with Christmas in mind, the handbags featured in the movie 'Sex and the City' are due to go on display in Doll. These are designed by Timmy Woods of Beverley Hills and include: the Horse, the Eiffel Tower, the Phone and the Lips and already she's receiving lots of enquiries, which are bound to be snapped up for Christmas gifts. Someone is sure to push the boat out to pick up a special Swaroski crystal encrusted Eiffel Tower bag - a collector's item at a mere £3000.

Alternatively, you can treat yourself, or someone else, to some very attractive Paul and Joe nail polish and lipstick or some wonderful MOR cosmetics. The candles and body butter are both pretty tantalising and would make great presents. Arielle says that clients often come into shop for gifts but cannot resist treating themselves. She is building up a loyal following of discerning shoppers, who love to find something unusual and of high quality and are attracted by the personal service she provides.

Photo: doll. It's not a shop full of disposable fashion items but beautifully made clothing in fine materials that are likely be worn with pleasure time upon time.

My own favourite is a wonderful white shirt by Sally Tseng, which would look wonderful with a very sharply cut black blazer by the same designer.

You'll enjoy a browse in Doll and be amazed at the stunning collection of clothes and accessories available and the up to the minute fashion items more often to be found in Knightsbride and Chelsea. It's situated in a great location, very convenient for Great Western Road and Kelvinbridge Underground. Also lots of lovely coffee shops and bistros for you to catch a bite to eat if you're having a day out in the West End.

I bought a dress for the christmas party season - I needed something unique and really "different" - boy did I get that. I've never had so many compliments about any outfit, I even had my picture snapped at the cash for kids lunch and ended up appearing IN THE DRESS from Doll, in No1 magazine. I can't wait for the new collection to buy more!
