The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan at GFT
5 – 11 May, 2023
Vincent Cassel and Eva Green star in this lavish and entertaining new adaptation of Alexander Dumas’s epic novel.
D’Artagnan (François Civil), a spirited young man, is left for dead after trying to save a young woman from being kidnapped. When he arrives in Paris, he tries by all means to find his attackers. He is unaware that his quest will lead him to the heart of a real war where the future of France is at stake.
Allied with Athos, Porthos and Aramis (Vincent Cassel, Pio Marmaï and Romain Duris), three musketeers for the King with an audacious contempt for danger, D’Artagnan faces the dark machinations of the Cardinal of Richelieu. But it is when he falls madly in love with Constance Bonacieux, the Queen’s confidante, that D’Artagnan truly puts himself in danger. For it is this that leads him into the path of someone who becomes his mortal enemy: Milady de Winter (Eva Green).
Why we love it at GFT
‘If you want an entertaining couple of hours at the cinema, I can highly recommend The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan. It’s been a while since we’ve seen an adaptation of these Alexandre Dumas novels on the big screen, and this swashbuckling adventure is a delight – full of spies, conspiracies, sword fights and some really spectacular headwear. The cast, including French favourites Vincent Cassel, Romain Duris, with Eva Green as Milady, are obviously having a lot of fun. It’s infectious to watch!’
