The Slab Boys, 25 years anniversary 35 mm at GFT
Wednesday 7 September, 2022, 8.35 p.m.
John Byrne’s beloved The Slab Boys is one of the great, joyous landmarks of Scottish theatre. 25 years on since Byrne directed the exuberant cinema adaptation, we’re bringing it back to the big screen for this one-off special screening. Paisley 1957 is the setting, and three working-class lads from the local carpet factory are looking forward to a staff dance and the rock’n’roll fuelled promise of sweet escape from the daily drudgery of their lives. The cast includes Barbara Rafferty, David O’Hara and Ford Kiernan.
Glasgow Film Theatre, 12 Rose Street, Glasgow G3 6RB
This 25th anniversary screening is in partnership with the exhibition John Patrick Byrne, A Big Adventurer, on display at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museums until 18 September. Your cinema ticket will also get you free entry to the exhibition and 10% off purchases in the museum gift shop.
