The Provy Wummin

9 February, 2024 7.30 p.m.

Websters Theatre, 416 Great Western Road, Glasgow G4 9HZ (adjacent to Kelvinbridge Underground)

It’s 1979.

Does the wean want an orange chopper for Christmas? Have you booked the caravan in Anstruther? Or does mammy want a new outfit from What Every Woman Wants?

Well… she can help. Margaret Morrison is the friendly face, with a friendly loan… to help out with the cost of living. The Provident Woman knocked on many a door on a Friday, offering friendly financial support to families in need, dealing with life’s big knocks. Sign on the dotted line and everything would be fine.

But what cost life? What cost loving? When the spiral of debt becomes too much and “you’re caught in a trap”. And then of course there’s The Avon Lady… The Tupperware… and even an Ann Summers. What is cost to live and love? Then… compared to now.

A gritty musical comedy, with a soundtrack to the 70s.

“The First Wives Club meets Rab C meets Margaret Thatcher”

Further to its smash hit, sell out and critically acclaimed Autumn run 2023… Don’t Miss It! With a soundtrack to the 70s live on stage.

“Best musical comedy i’ve seen in years.”

“I laughed and cried from start to finish and the songs were superb.”

“A comedy genius, with some poignant drama and nostalgic scenes, that keeps it real today. Outstanding vocals.”
