Rona returns to Orkney after more than a decade away living to excess in London. As she reconnects with the dramatic landscape where she grew up, memories of her childhood merge with the more recent challenging events that have set her on the path to recovery. Orkney at its wildest and most beautiful proves to be Rona’s salvation.
“Saoirse Ronan is mesmerising in sobering addiction drama” – The Guardian
Based on the memoir by Amy Liptrot and directed by Nora Fingscheid, with Freya Evans, Saoirse Ronan, Paapa Essiedu and Seamus Dillane, The Outrun is a raw and powerful drama that explores addiction, recovery and mental health, revealing how nature and human connection can restore life and rekindle hope.
