Twenty-one year old student, Hana Hassan, has had to endure catcalls, vulgar comments and chronic fear of the men she encounters in public since she was 12 years old. She’s reached the limit of her tolerance with her society’s “disease”.
Niqabi Ninja, Hana’s alter ego, decides to turn the tables on her predators. She has the costume, she has the weapons, she has the skills and now she has decided to put her plan into action.
Described as an Egyptian ‘Everyday Sexism’ Niqabi Ninja explores what it is like to be a woman living in modern day Cairo.
Warning: contains descriptions of sexual violence.
Age recommendation: 14 +
Niqabi Ninja is presented as part of Gender Programming: Day long celebration @ Platform Glasgow on Saturday 31st October.
