High Fidelity and Almost Famous at GFT
Saturday 12 July, 2025, 5 p.m.
Double Trouble at Glasgow Film Theatre
Enjoy summer at the cinema with this extra special double-bill of two iconic music dramas that both celebrate their 25th Anniversary this year!
High Fidelity
Rob Gordon (John Cusack) is the owner of a semi-failing record store located on one of the back streets of Chicago. He sells music the old-fashioned way, on vinyl, with his two wacky clerks – the hysterically funny rock snob Barry (Jack Black) and the more quietly opinionated underachiever Dick (Todd Louiso). But Rob’s business isn’t the only thing in his life that’s floundering – his needle skips the love groove when his longtime girlfriend Laura walks out on him. And this forces him to examine his past failed attempts at romance the only way he knows how!
Almost Famous
Rolling Stone Magazine unwittingly hires a 15 year old aspiring journalist after reading an article he wrote for Cream Magazine. Almost Famous is the hilarious and touching story of this intelligent young man’s journey into the world of Rock-and-Roll as he tours with Stillwater, an up-and-coming band struggling with their rise to fame.
