Quo vadis, Italia? In 2020 Italian directors Pietro Marcello, Francesco Munzi and Alice Rohrwacher united to explore their beautiful country and capture a snapshot of what might lie ahead for Italy. They travelled from Venice to Rome, Naples, Palermo and beyond, interviewing young people pursuing careers as beauticians, boxers, actors, farmers, students and musicians. Revealing modest ambitions and hopes for a more tolerant, inclusive society, this is a generation torn between nostalgia for a simpler past, and a real sense of foreboding about the future.
A unique portrait of Italy, observed through the eyes of teenagers who talk about the places they live in and imagine themselves, torn between the opportunities that surround them, the dream of what they want to become, the fear of failing, the trials they hope to overcome.
