Gene Hackman leads a powerhouse cast as a prospector who becomes the world’s wealthiest man after finding an incredible haul of gold in the Klondike. 20 years later, living in the Caribbean, his life is crumbling. Eureka was barely released at the time of its making and overlooked by critics, but it should arguably sit alongside Roeg’s finest work, and is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary studio films of the 1980s. Screening on 35mm
