Do The Right Thing CineMasters Spike Lee at GFT
Do the Right Thing (15) 2-4 August
One of Spike Lee’s greatest works
On the hottest day of the summer in the Bedford-Stuyvesant district of Brooklyn, Italian-American Sal Fragione opens his pizza parlour in the same way he has for the past 25 years. But on this day, the simmering racial tensions between Sal’s Italianate family and the predominately African-American neighbourhood explode into violence. One of Lee’s earliest feature films, Do the Right Thing is not only recognised as one his best works, but also as one of the greatest films ever made. Screening in 4K.
