City of Hope at GFT
Sunday 25 and Wednesday 28 August, 2024
City of Hope is John Sayles’s elegy for the ruined dreams of one segment of urban American society, focusing on the network of greed and influence surrounding an urban development plan and its effects on the innocent and guilty alike. With more than 50 principal tangentially connected principal characters, this top-to-bottom portrait of a vast community under the thumb of corrupt business interests and racial discrimination will delight fans of The Wire.
Screening as part of CineMasters: John Sayles Your contribution matters.
