Screenings:
A Boy in Harris
Gruth is Uachdar (Crowdie & Cream)
This event celebrates the work of Finlay J. Macdonald, a writer, journalist and broadcaster closely associated with the cultural life of the Outer Hebrides.
The programme brings together two films connected by Macdonald’s distinctive storytelling voice.
A Boy in Harris is a documentary portrait of a young boy growing up in Harris in the 1960s, offering a rare and evocative insight into island childhood at a time of social and economic change. Through everyday routines, community life and landscape, the film captures a period when traditional ways of living were beginning to shift.
The second screening is Episode 1 of Gruth is Uachdar (Crowdie & Cream), the television serialisation of Macdonald’s celebrated memoir, which reflects on island life with humour, warmth and sharp observation.
The screenings will be followed by a Q&A session.
