Following the critical acclaim of Honeyland, Oscar-nominated director Tamara Kotseva brings her unique, cinematic voice to this poetic story of solitude, belonging and renewal.
Rooted in a 17th-century Macedonian folktale of a boy transformed into a stork, The Tale of Silyan follows Nikola, an aging farmer whose community is being driven from the land by new government policies.
He encounters Silyan, a white stork drawn to the site for food, whose family left him behind due to a broken wing. Their lives intertwine when Nikola, abandoned by his family, saves the injured bird from a landfill. As Nikola and Silyan form a bond, they find solace and companionship in each other’s solitude.
