Irish Roots Programme, Govanhill

This week ‘s meeting will report back on the Irish Roots programme, the 17 singers who came over from the Inishowen Traditional Singers’ Circle, Maura McRobbie and The Derry Boat to Donegal Hill Heritage Trail – huge thanks to everyone who came along – lots of great stories.
The group’s funding application to the Government of Ireland, Emigrant Support Programme for 2025-2026 has been successful so a daytime monthly meeting will be added to the programme..
A list of potential speakers has been organised and visits for the group to go on for the year. There are plans to book more oral history recordings and discuss the possibility of:
– Irish Reading Group
– Irish Women’s Group
– Singers’ Circle
