God Help The Girl at GFT plus Stuart Murdoch Q & A
Sunday 4 August, 2024 at 4 p.m.
Followed by a Q&A with director Stuart Murdoch.
Set in Glasgow, God Help the Girl is about a girl called Eve who is in the hospital dealing with emotional problems and starts writing songs as a way of getting better. Songwriting becomes her way forward, leading her to the city where she meets James and Cassie, two musicians each at crossroads of their own. What follows is a story of renaissance over the course of a long, dream-like summer.
ABOUT SCARED TO DANCE
“Scared To Dance are an independent club night, live music, film screening and book event promoters founded in 2009. The club plays post-punk, indiepop, new wave and art rock music and is on the first Saturday of the month at The Victoria and the third Saturday of the month at The Shacklewell Arms in London. We also host club nights in Berlin, Glasgow and Brighton.
We host music-related film screenings across the UK. We invite guests to curate an evening featuring their choice of film or documentary followed by a Q&A with the host Paul Richards. Guests have included Jeremy Deller, Jon Ronson, Rose Matafeo, Alex Kapranos, Elis James, Josie Long and Robin Ince.”
After the screening, Stuart Murdoch will lead an impromptu walking tour around some of the God Help the Girl filming locations. Gather outside GFT following the Q&A to join in.
