Rosalie GFF24
9 and 10 March, 2024
A period drama about a woman who suffers from hirsutism – making her what is considered a ‘bearded lady’. She keeps it a secret until a man marries her for her dowry.
In 1870s France, a young woman is keeping a closely guarded secret. Rosalie (Nadia Tereskiewicz) was born with hirsuitism, which means her face and body are covered with hair unless she shaves them. When Abel (Benoit Magimel) marries her for her dowry so that he can pay off his debts, the truth will come out. Stéphanie di Gusto crafts a heartfelt drama about the freedom to be yourself in the face of those who fear difference – and the ability of love to conquer all.
