Crime writer, playwright and the best dressed Glaswegian cyclist, Denise Mina will share an exclusive rading of her new Creative Commission for 2024 (commissioned by @thealasdairgrayarchive and @strathclydecw)
Denis will be joined by Alasdair Gray’s biographer and our good friend in all things Gray, Rodge Glass to discuss this commission and Alasdair Gray’s wider interest in the art of the creative response.
Nichol Wheatley will give – a not to be missed – talk about the ceiling mural at Òran Mór. Nichol helped Alasdair devise and deliver several murals including the auditorium and SPT Hillhead Underground Station murals. It will be a chance to hear first hand about the development of these artworks, with a few funny tales thrown in for good measure!
Claire Forsyth, Creative Director of Glasgow Print Studio will give us an exclusive insight into the long standing collaborative printmaking relationship they had with Alasdair. Gray made almost 40 prints over a 40 year period with GPS and highly valued their collaboration and the wider GPS community. After this talk Claire will run an exclusive ‘Print Your Own’ Pop Up Workshop
