Kokomo City at GFT
Friday 4 – Thursday 10 August, 2023
Captions and audio description available
Directed by two-time Grammy nominee D. Smith, Kokomo City presents the stories of four Black transgender sex workers in New York and Georgia. Shot in striking black and white, the reality of these women’s lives – and the frankness with which they share their experiences – makes for an unfiltered, unabashed and unapologetic portrait.
This Sunday 6 August’s screening at 7.10pm will have an introduction by Nusa from House Ball Scotland, who will say a few words before a minute’s silence for Koko Da Doll, who appears in the documentary. Tickets for this screening are available on a Sliding Scale (Pay What You Can) basis. This event is produced by collaborative marketing agency Dark Matter, and award-winning queer film director Campbell X.
