Tár at GFT
13 – 26 January, 2023
Set in the international world of classical music, Tár is centred on Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett), one of the greatest living composers and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra. Todd Field’s (Little Children) intense and finely-tuned character study follows the composer-conductor’s fall from grace with meticulous detail as her reputation is shattered by the revelations of her personal life.
Progamme Notes on the film by culture writer and GFT Marketing Officer Claire Biddles.
