Ataraxie at Sonica Festival
20 March, 2022 – until 5 p.m.
New video and pictures of the world premiere of Ataraxie – a jaw-dropping laser and sound installation in the Engine Works, 23-25 Lochburn Rd, Wyndford, Glasgow G20 9AE
The event is free to attend and unticketed, running from 11am – 5pm Sunday 20 March.
In this this new installation from Maxime Houot the artist asks us to question what this might mean in a changed and still changing post-pandemic world. A row of lasers fills the space with beams of red light that first form simple crosses, before building up complex, tesseract-like structures. Ataraxie investigates the void of the unknown and asks us whether we might fill it with the comforting and familiar, or find fresh ways to live.
Ataraxie is one of 200 events that have been happening across Glasgow for Sonica Festival, Cryptic’s biannual celebration of sonic art. All exhibitions are open until Sunday and are free to attend.
