Black British Cinema – Routes of Representation

To complement GFTs Black History Month programme, join them for a panel discussion exploring the history of Black cinema in the UK. Joined by local filmmakers, artists and academics to discuss issues of access and representation in front of and behind the camera.
The panel will also touch on how these issues relate to the films in GFT’s Black Histories on Film programme, and what support is available for new Black filmmakers working in the UK today.
The panel will be hosted by artist Daniella Faakor Damptey and will include filmmakers Lorna King and Stewart Kyasimire; artist, researcher and film programmer Natasha Ruwona; and Clive Nwonka, Lecturer in Film, Culture and Society at UCL’s Institute of Advanced Studies.
