Greed GFT
21 – 26 February, 2020
Steve Coogan stars in this sharp satire as self-made British billionaire Sir Richard “Greedy” McCreadie, whose empire is in crisis. For 30 years he has ruled the world of retail fashion but after a damaging public inquiry, his image is tarnished. To save his reputation, he decides to bounce back with a highly publicised and extravagant party celebrating his 60th birthday on the Greek island of Mykonos. Surrounded by his fragmented family – including his daughter (Sophie Cookson) and the reality TV crew following her – and his ever-present biographer Nick (David Mitchell), McCreadie attempts to regain control of his life. Director Michael Winterbottom (24 Hour Party People, A Mighty Heart) surveys the grotesque inequality of wealth in the fashion industry with sly humour and poignant emotion.
