Glasgow Film Festival 2020: Jazz On A Summer’s Day
1 March, 2020 – 3 p.m.
Considered the greatest jazz concert film ever made, Jazz On A Summer’s Day celebrates one joyous Saturday during the Newport Jazz Festival of 1958. Fashion photographer Bert Stern captures the people, performers and magical atmosphere of a day when the mouthwatering line-up included Louis Armstrong, Dinah Washington, Mahalia Jackson, Thelonius Monk and others. Intimate, engaging, and completely beguiling, the film now looks and sounds its very best thanks to an exemplary 4k restoration screening in the UK for the very first time. If you want more, check out our live Jazz band performance after the film, Now you has jazz. Thanks to Kino Lorber
