Glasgow Film Festival 2020, Disco
3 and 4 March, 2020
Faith requires absolute devotion in Disco, a tough, disturbing drama on the all-consuming demands of Christian cults. Mirjam (Josefine Frida Pettersen) is the teenage stepdaughter of a pastor in an evangelical movement. She is also a world champion disco freestyle dancer who is the pride of her church. When she collapses on stage and her winning streak falters, the church is unsympathetic and places the blame on her lack of faith. As her confidence falters, Mirjam starts to look for reassurance elsewhere and is drawn to an even stricter, more conservative congregation.
