A Streetcar Named Desire, GFT
14 – 17 February, 2020
In the sticky heat of New Orleans’ French Quarter, Blanche DuBois, a small-town beauty who feels her best years are behind her, arrives at the modest apartment of her sister, Stella, and her explosive husband, Stanley Kowalski.
Elia Kazan’s legendary adaptation of Tennessee Williams’ play is famed for the brute and unruly power of Marlon Brando’s performance. It is an early example of the ‘Method’ style of acting that had such a marked influence on American cinema over the following decades.
