This talk looks at four fundamental questions: Is translation possible? What is a good translation? Who benefits from translation? Is translation an exercise in uncertainty or an obstacle to communication?
In this hour-long talk, Allan Cameron employs a wide range of sources and experiences to demonstrate the variety of language and the potential of translation.
No knowledge of publishing or translation is required to understand this talk. Admission is free
Allan Cameron has translated over twenty-four novels from Italian to English, and is the founder of Vagabond Voices. Translated fiction comprises a significant portion of Vagabond Voices’ list, with Baltic fiction as our primary focus for 2016–2018.
