The animated film is based on a play The Golden Horse, by Latvian poet Rainis. The story is about how Black Mother, an evil sorceress who feeds on the sadness and tears of others, imprisons the Princess Sun in an ice coffin on the highest hill. While evil is taking over the Kingdom, the King decides to make an announcement: the bravest man who saves the Princess will be able to marry her. Many young men are trying their luck to save her. But there is only one open-hearted man who is capable to withstand the forces of evil – Antiņš. It is a struggle between good and evil; an omnipresent courage, perseverance and power of love.
The event will include a stop-motion animation workshop with animator Jim Stirk after the screening. This workshop is suitable for ages 6-16 plus parents. To register, please call the CCA box office on 0141 352 4900.
