Bobby Sands: 66 Days (15)
A rare insight into the iconic Irish political figure, Bobby Sands.
Monday 29 August – Saturday 3 September
(Mon 29 and Sat 3 both sold out)
Running time: 1h45m
In the Spring of 1981 the relentless cycle of violence in Northern Ireland took a profound turn inside the infamous Maze Prison. Seeking the right to be treated as political prisoners as opposed to common criminals, Bobby Sands along with nine other IRA prisoners began a hunger strike that attracted the world’s attention. Brendan J Byrne’s stirring documentary combines previously unseen archive footage, with Sands’ personal diaries and illuminating eye-witness testimonials to provide a rare insight into a turbulent period in Irish history and the iconic political figure.
