Purple Rain
Dir. Albert Magnoli 1984 111 mins US
“Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called Life…” This screening is in honour to Prince on what would have been his 58th birthday on June 7th.
Based on aspects of Prince’s real childhood and life, we follow the “Kid” as the talented but troubled frontman of his band the Revolution. Is he going to echo the emotional and physical violence of his parents and become an abusive loser? Or will he become a sensual, sexy, tender, genderfluid, expressive, rocktastic musical mega star?
