Writers in Scotland – Tweet Pitch Your Work To XPONORTH– 6 January, 2016
On Wednesday 6th January 2016 tweet pitch your work to a panel of agents and publishers at XPONORTH
Emergents / XPONorth is offering writers across Scotland the chance to deliver on their creative resolutions for 2016 in one tweet, with a twitter pitch event on 6th January!
‘On Wednesday 6th January 2016, XPONorth is opening its twitter channels to pitches of unpublished fiction and nonfiction from writers living and working in Scotland. At our end, a panel of eager agents and publishers will await your tweets, if they like what they read they’ll make contact with you to find out more about you and your work with a view to potential representation or publishing.’
How it works…
‘All you have to do is to formulate a pitch for your work in 135 characters or less – yes, that’s the normal 140 character max for tweets minus the tags below which must be added to your pitch tweet – and tweet it from your own twitter account between 12midnight on 5th/6th January and 12 midnight on 6th/7th January 2016.
We’ll pick up your submission from the hash tags, and if one or more of our agents or publishers likes your pitch, they’ll make contact with you directly.’
Add the appropriate hashtag
The all important #s:
Add #xpo to the end of your pitch tweet and then add one of the following letters to the end of #xpo which lets our agents and publishers know the type of work you are pitching:
B for crime fiction
C for children books
G for other general fiction
N for nonfiction
S for SF
W for fiction for women
Y for YA
So, the pitch of a romance novel for women would end with the hashtag #xpow
A few things to note…
If you don’t use the hashtags above we can’t consider your work.
Your pitch must be about an unpublished work and must be all your own original work.
Don’t add pictures or files to your tweets.
If any an agent or publisher contacts you about your work, any subsequent agreements or other communications between you and that party are solely your own responsibility. Always take advice before making any agreement or signing a contract about your work.
This project is open only to writers living and working in Scotland
Finally…
‘Why not follow us on twitter straight away – @emergentwriters – and marvel as some of Scotland’s finest writers tweet pitches for their already published works…WTS!’
