Described by its director Jocelyn Moorhouse (Proof) as ‘Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven with a sewing machine’, The Dressmaker stars Kate Winslet as Myrtle ‘Tilly’ Dunnage, a woman who returns to her small town after having fled decades earlier following accusations of murder. Armed with her sewing machine and form-fitting dresses, Tilly turns heads and brings haute-couture to the conservative town. However, battle-lines are drawn when the local busybodies drudge up her shadowy past.
