When the road to success is littered with losers and even your closest colleagues are desperate for you to fail, what would you do to make it to the top? In 1997, the British music industry is on a winning streak – Britpop is ruling the airwaves and Cool Britannia is in full swing. 27-year-old hit-chasing A&R man Steven Stelfox (Nicholas Hoult) is slashing his way through the music business, a business where careers are built on chance and the fickle tastes of the general public. A dark, satirical and hysterical evisceration of the 90s music business based on John Niven’s best-selling novel.
John Niven will join us following the screening to discuss translating his book to the screen, in conversation with fellow author Ian Rankin.
