Discussion: Graphic Scores in Music
Sat 29 November 2014
Included in GIOfest VII will be a series of films produced by Jo Ganter and Kate Cotter. These films include animations, narratives and specially edited films of performances, all produced for the festival. The films will run on a loop in the Cinema and there will also be special ‘Connected Elements’ showings at various locations around the CCA, with a live musical accompaniment.

The Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra’s seventh annual international festival (GIOfest VII) brings together the world’s finest improvising and experimental musicians for new works and workshops with the community – a celebration of improvised music in all its forms.
The line-up of seminal guests this year (bringing with them new commissions/collaborations exclusively for GIO) includes Ilan Volkov, Maya Dunietz, Gino Robair, John Butcher, Norway’s contemporary music supergroup Lemur, Steve Beresford, Michel Doneda, Corey Mwamba and Maggie Nicols.
The theme of the festival is ‘Connected Elements’ and includes visual artists and filmmakers (Jo Ganter, Kate Cotter and Aileen Campbell) who have produced work exclusively for GIO to ‘connect’ with around the CCA during the festival.
Performances, discussions and workshops come together to make three days of inspiring, enquiring and life affirming music.
