A Northerly Land with Face The West
25th January, OranMor
Created during a year-long artist’s residency in north-west Sutherland, drummer/producer Iain Copeland’s stunning new album A Northerly Land is a dense, dynamic tapestry of instrumental, song, spoken-word and digitally-created elements. Its live première features Copeland with ten of the album’s guests, many from Sketch, including saxophonist Nigel Hitchcock, guitarist Malcolm MacFarlane, Gaelic singer Fiona J. Mackenzie and poet George Gunn, plus pipes, fiddle, whistles, trumpet, trombone and bass.
Combining a 15-year track record with continual rejuvenation, self-styled ‘electro-Celtic’ combo Face the West remain one of the Hebrides’ most popular live acts, with their current core quartet – on fiddle, accordion, keyboards and drums – joined here by special guests from previous line-ups.
Over 14s only, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult
