She is as industrious as ever working for brides from far flung places such as Hong Kong and USA, however, she is no longer operating from her shop in Byres Road. I miss it a lot but good to know you are still around working with the flowers and foliage, Joan.
Before I discovered Acanthus - Flowers and Foliage I had heard lots about it from various folk and when I eventually made it along I was not disappointed. It is a beautiful, colourful and calm oasis brightening up the lanes off Byres Road.
Joan Douglas, the owner is intent on providing a really excellent neighbourhood and very personal service. She is determined that her customers will be not only satisfied but delighted with the service she provides. Joan deals personally with clients and believes it is important to build good relationships. Obviously her 20 years experience in bookselling with John Smith's in Glasgow is standing her in good stead and she has clearly all the flair and knowledge required to allow her to follow her dream.
The shop is perfectly delightful with glorious fresh flowers and beautiful displays and arrangements for all occasions. I have bought myself a few little treats - reasonably priced and beautifully wrapped and I've been trotting my friends along and they have all been suitably impressed.

It looks like Joan's love of flowers, artistry and creativity have been given a great outlet though Acanthus. It's certainly brightening up this quiet little corner of in the West End which you would be well advised to search out.
