Frank's Choice: The Halt Bar - 160 Woodlands Road.

The Halt Bar has been flying the flag for the live music scene since the 70's and has established itself as one of the oldest live music venues in Glasgow. Many a famour face has graced the stage of the Halt, the latest being the Glasgow sensations Belle and Sebastion - others include: Kevin McDermott and Del Amitri.

One of the highlights at the Halt Bar is the Open Stage, held every Saturday from 4.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m., hosted by local talented musicians Alan, Brendan and Zak. All instruments, including the drum kit, are supplied and members of the public are invited to perform "covers" or "original material", it matters none and it all makes for an interesting and eclectic mix of music with something for everyone.

The Open Stage is also held on a Wednesday from 8.00 p.m. - 11.00 p.m., again hosted by local talent such as Sandy, Susan, Helen and Jimmy Riff.

So if you fancy a Gig or a Jam or a Sing-a-Long, why not go along on Saturday afternoon and have a word with Alan.
