Green Space on Belmont Street is Under Threat

Recommended Posts

Planning permission has been sought to build a house on the “pleasure ground” green space at the corner of Doune Gardens and Belmont Street. North Kelvin Community Council are opposed to the application and have sent a letter of objection to the City Council.

The pleasure ground has been in existence for 132 years. The plan to build a residential property there is not in keeping with the City Council's policy to:

To preserve and enhance the special character of the area

Respect the historic context and historic plans for the area

Retain open space which contributes to the character of the area

and retain trees.

Of course, none of the above will hold the council back.
