William Gourlay

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Wondering if anybody can help me.

I an trying to trace the family or relations of a William Gourlay whose Father and Mother (William and Eileen Firth),came from Partick.

William was killed when the Wellington Bomber he was flying in crashed near Humbie in East Lothian on 20/4/1945.

If anybody knows of any relatives who might still be alive, could you ask them to get in touch with me through this Forum .

Thanks,

Kenny Walker.

Welcome to the forum, Drem, and good luck with your search. Hope you find some Gourlays.

You might want to add your query to this page:

Kenny, can you clarify who was killed flying the Wellington, was it William the dad or the William Gourlay you are looking for?

Hello Samscaf,

The William Gourlay I am looking for is the son.

He was actualy the rear gunner on board The Wellington at the time.

Other info I have is that he was aged 22 at the time and that his Service Number was 1825511.

He is buried in Haddington (St Martins), New Burial Ground.

Thank you,

Strange thing is that I have found it easier to trace other members of the crew from all over the world but William Gourlay is the one who is evading me.

Will also try the 2 addresses sent to me by Pat.
