Front door with "porte cochere" Drive in off Macquarie Street

Reason a couple of us were spooked out is that it looks so uncannily similar to the 'front' entrance of Kelvingrove Museum, Oz.

Somebody might have to go take a pic this weekend, I'd say half way up the path from Kelvin Way towards our own 'porte cochere' would just about do it  Weird weird weird though, so it is.

Pleased to see some more photos of my favourite fluffy cows a few posts back....

We have had a major 'rain event' as they are calling it here in Victoria today. The creek that runs through the middle of our town has flooded and we took a few photos earlier. I have never seen it flood like this - amazing. Coming off a month of high rainfall the ground can't absorb any more and the runoff is torrential. I don't think I've ever seen so much rain in my life, actually.

Must be the day for interesting natural occurences in the southern hemisphere today - earthquake in Christchurch NZ as well.

Main bridge in town - water level is about 2m higher than usual - there is a path running under the bridge:

Creek normally flows about 20m further back from the road:

A sand bag? For when it floods? I think...

Ibrox tyre yard fire, I was right on the scene on the way to my work, was there before they cordoned the street off and before the BBC even knew it was happening
