Hinkley Point – the world's most expensive white elephant

Recommended Posts

Beyond absurd that this hugely expensive project has now got the go ahead despite May's apparent reservations.   She's now decided that yes, we will subsidize the Chinese and that the South will benefit from thousands of new jobs, while the public pay the price for more expensive electricity.

It seems to me another reason why Scotland should really be going it along – after all we are sitting with wave power representing 10% of all such power in Europe.  We've got wind to spare as well.

Cameron dropped his commitment to the development of solar industry which was already forging ahead. Think what they could do with all that English sunshine.

I cannot understand what the benefits of Hinkley Point are supposed to be. It seems that there will be more expensive fuel costs and nuclear waste to dispose of.  It looks like a step backwards rather than forwards.  What is the justification?
