  1. The treatment of children of 'illegal' immigrant families in USA is indefensible. Is it therefore significant that the news reports today that USA has left/is leaving the Human Rights Council? One of the reasons given - allegedly! - is the bias against Israel, which speaks volumes for USA. Any respect one had for the USA started with the election of that man as President. He has destroyed the dignity of that office and his country apparently supports him. Have just listened (on the radio)to a USA spokesman attempting to defend the separation of children from their parents by claiming it prevents the children being 'incarcerated'! Has he seen some of the conditions of these children, not to mention the possible, long term, trauma. might one quote the adage, there are none so blind as those who will not see. Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: Jeremiah 5:21 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear you indeed, but understand not; and see indeed, but perceive not. Isaiah 6:9-10
  2. Give teachers guns, Yeh, right.They could make sure they are not seen! Raise the age at which guns can be bought from 18 to 21? It's a mental; problem, not a gun one! What utter tripe emanates from the mouth of the President of the USA. What's more worrying it's not only tripe it's dangerous tripe.As far as I'm concerned there is a mental problem (possible combined with a financial one - how much did the NRA contribute to T's campaign) Who calls the shots here? The shots that are killing school children with increasing frequency in the USA. The answer is not more guns but fewer. Why not start by banning the sale of all automatic weapons and adapters to the general public. Surly there were only designed for use by the military. Stricter regulations, closer checks, fewer gun shops. The mental problem lies firmly with the President himself. The solution lies with the American people. Get rid of him. He is a President whose only aim in office seems to be undoing all Obama's actions. Oh, and doing what the NRA want. I refute the argument re the constitution saying every American has the right to carry arms. I do believe that was intended to be appropriate at the time of writing. I am sure the Founding Fathers did not envisaged today's situation. Other 'laws' have been amended. Why not that one? Might one remind the Americans of the preamble to that constitution? We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
  3. So, another one 'let go', another one who didn't sing from the same hymn sheet. How many now! Bet the queue of people wanting a job in the White House is shortening by the minute. Let's hope the pennsylvania result bodes well for the future.
  4. Cards on the table I’m female, English, a Royalist. I’ve lived in Scotland since 2006. My politics vary from election to election although I was reared in a staunch Labour home. I voted ‘No’ in the Scottish Referendum and ‘Remain’ in the UK Referendum. I’m not ashamed of any of the above and am grateful I live in a society where I am not in fear of retribution for declaring this information. I also signed the petition against President Trump’s STATE visit to the UK. The invitation was premature to say the least. As a democratically elected leader of his country we expect him to visit other countries but did I miss something? Did he do something deserving of a State Visit. I don’t think so. There are times - very rare - when I would wish for an absolute Monarch who would cry ‘Off with his head!’ However, as that cannot be, I content myself - hardly the correct word - with mine own opinions. The Queen is a constitutional monarch and a damned good one. She must have, in her long reign, have performed duties as Queen, on behalf of her people and government, which must have been anathema to her - such as greeting men who may have been complicit in the deaths of many Britons, including members of her own family. She is now required to meet a man whose own words define him without any help from me. I find this distasteful in the extreme. It is said the Trump is, through his aides, actually dictating as to which members of the Royal Family he wants to meet. The ones on the proscribed list must be breathing sighs of relief. I suspect the Founding Fathers are spinning in their graves whist King George chortles quietly in his. I’ve read several comments in respect of the President’s mental state and his conduct generally. Some may regard him as a fool but he’s a dangerous one. I especially abhor his attempts to quash the power of the media. Freedom of speech is one of the first privileges to go when a prospective dictator comes to power. History tells us that. Whatever we do we should laugh at him for too long and one sincerely hopes we won’t have to. The expression ‘Give him enough rope and he’ll hang himself’. Dum spiro, spero….
