Happy New Year to you all

2012 was a bumper year for Woodlands Community Garden, and 2013 is going to be even busier.

Here's what we have lined up so far.

..

Leave The Rubbish Times Behind You In 2013

Sunday 20th January 12-4pm

Zap into action for the New Year with a community clean up of our new gap site at 127 West Princes Street. Help us clear the site and nearby streets of rubbish. The community clean up will be the beginning of our work to get the gap site back into use. Over the coming months our new gap site will be used for pop up art events, whilst we fundraise for our longer term plans for building new community facilities and workspaces for local artists/crafts people. Meet at the corner of West Princes Street and Ashley Street from 12 midday. Hot drinks and equipment provided, wear sturdy shoes.

Family Friendly Bio-Diverse Launch Event - Reconnecting People To Nature At Woodlands Community Garden

Sunday 27th January 12-4pm

In celebration of our new Bio-Diverse Project and as part of the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch come along and help us count and identify birds that are visiting the community garden this winter; make your own bird feeders and join in other bird related activities, such as Bird Bingo. We will also be giving out resources on how to make your garden wildlife friendly and you will be able to pick up a copy of our programme of nature themed walks to nearby green spaces that start in February.

Communal Gardening Sessions Re-Started

Wednesday And Sundays

Our communal garden sessions have restarted and take place on Wednesday afternoons from 1-4pm and Sundays from 11am - dusk. Come by and help us with a range of winter maintenance and gardening tasks. Everyone Welcome

Raised Bed Deadline 27th January

If you would like to have a growing space at the Community Garden then you need to register by 27th January. To do this simply come along to either our Wednesday or Sunday sessions and Vicki will help you fill in the form. Priority is given to people living locally and who are able to help out with communal activities as well as looking after their own growing spaces. Raised Bed applications will be processed during February, with an induction day set for raised bedders on Sunday 24th February.

Garden Meeting + Plans For Woodlands Community Skills Exchange

Sunday 10th February 2pm

Come along to our first garden meeting of 2013, mulch over plans for the garden during 2013 and find out about all we are up to. Over the next few months we will be doing some work in piloting a local skills exchange network so the garden meeting will also be an opportunity to chat over ideas for doing this - more details to follow soon.
