Thanks to all of those who you who helped out or came to Saturday's Harvest Festival. The sun shone. the children played, the music filled both the garden and the park and a good time was had by all. We'll be reflecting further on the day at our September (30th) garden meeting so come along if you have ideas to share about how the festival could be developed for next year. In case you thought that now Harvest has happened, all will be quiet - think again.
Alejandra Contreras is a Mexican artist that came to Glasgow for a Masters on Research in Creative Practices at the Glasgow School of Art.
During September and October she will transfer her studio practice to Woodlands Community Garden, a place where many positive social interactions currently go un-documented; producing visual material that speaks about autonomous relationships among people and relationships of people with their environment.
She is interested in making visible and seeking to find refreshing ways of rearranging our positions within the encounters society has available for us. Through collaged images she intends to evidence the multiplicity of meanings derived from rearranging our social connections.
During her residency she will be producing and displaying her work around the garden; illustrating her observations and research and tempting ways of collaboration and participation within the community.
On September the 30th from 2-4pm she will run a workshop on collage - as a practical way of rethinking relationships and interaction. The material produced during her residence will be shown at The Final Exhibition on 14th of October at the Garden from 12-4pm.
