Otago Lane - Development Approved

Added on Wednesday 29 Aug 2012

Despite thousands of residents lodging objections to the plan to redevelop Otago Lane and part of Otago Street, Glasgow City Council's Planning Committee has approved the application.

The plans by Otago Street Developments Ltd were voted through by nine votes to six. One councillor abstained from voting.

Local businesses including Tchai Ovna and Voltaire and Rousseau had objected to the development with support from locals, claiming that the development of 49 homes in three residential blocks in the area would create overcrowding in the lane and surrounding streets and 'destroy the character' of the area.
