"Wing and a Prayer are a guitar based duo from Scotland. Dave Dick and Jim Gilbert play original songs with a country blues flavour, occasionally wandering into the Americana/Roots or Rhythm and Blues fields. They have played together all over the UK and Europe and are also respected solo acoustic guitarists. Although having played in Soul, Rhythm and Blues and Swing Jazz bands in their early days their real roots are in the folk clubs, cafes and pubs of their native Scotland. Recorded in the rural Dumfriesshire town of Moffat at Sound Sense Studios, this is their first professional recording. A long time in gestation, it shows their all-embracing approach to 20th century American music. Even the sprinkling of "covers", show a fresh perspective on such music, with an emphasis on retaining the original strong emotions of their blues heroes without falling into the common trap of "copyism". Their original songs take some of their favourite riffs and themes and combine them in a unique Wing and a Prayer sound. With no percussion used, they show the power of acoustic guitars to drive rhythms but retain lyrical integrity. From Muddy Waters to John Martyn, from Memphis Minnie to John Renbourn they've been Making Hay all the way..."

Alan Reid joined Battlefield Band in 1969, at a time when they were morphing from a 'covers band', into a 'folk group'. They quickly became pre-eminent in the emerging Scottish Traditional music scene, becoming established firmly at the forefront and still remaining there today...
Alan is a fine songwriter - held in high regard by his peers - and his songs cover a great range of
subjects and emotions. It has been a pleasure to see where his muse has led him, from broad
sweeping historical ballads to perceptive and intense character studies and deceptively simple and
engaging love songs. These songs have been an important part of Battlefield Band's repertoire but,
now that he has stepped down, it gives us the opportunity to highlight some of his personal
favourites in their own right.

" Glasgow 's Doghouse Roses launch their second album, 'This Broken Key'. Ordinarily the Roses play as a duo, but for one night only, to celebrate the Glasgow launch, they will be playing with a full band. With early reviews describing the album as 'perfection' (flyinshoes.com), it would seem only right and proper to explore the album in the vein it was produced and with the addition of drums, base and keyboards to the live line-up. Opening will be Glasgow bluesman John Alexander, who will be playing material from his recent album, 'Rain for Sale ', among other gems from his cannon."
