150th Anniversary Celebrations St Simon's Church, Partick

Photo: st simons. A number of events have been organised in celebration of St Simon's 150th Anniversary. Including events at the West End Festival. The third oldest Catholic Church in Glasgow, was opened by Father Daniel Gallgher in 1858 - at that time it was called St Peter's. The Church has a very interesting history and in particular has had a long standing connection with Glasgow's Polish Community. During the second World War plish soldiers on leave came to mass at St Simons and traditionall Polish Mass has been celebrated at St Simons. The recent influx of young Polish workers to the city led to extra services being held at St Peter's Partick.
