An Americana Extravaganza!

Jim Byrne will be launching his new CD, 'Every Day is Sunshine' on the 8th of October 2010 in Bacchus (Glassford Street, Glasgow city centre). Music, song, laughter and convivial chat starts from 8pm. The CD won't be officially released until October 11th - so this is a chance to get a copy and hear it before the rest of the world. :-)

A room full of talented musicians

There will be many great musicians coming along to entertain on the night; all the songs from this brand spanking new record will be played; accompanied by those who actually played on the recording. Now that could well be a recipe for disaster - as this grand vision has yet to be rehearsed - or - as is more likely - it could turn out to be a simple recipe for fun and good music.

The talented performers joining Jim will include: The Carlton Jug Band, singer and multi-instramentalist Dinny, singers songwriters Johnny Russell and Sharon Campbell; songwriter, singer and all round good person Scott Macdonald, virtuoso guitarist and friend to the stars (well friend to me) Graham Mackintosh, Chris Barratt (Pookah), he of the satin voice and Paul Baird, dobro player with The Electrics. Sammy Horner, also of The Electrics and performing on 'It's Raining Outside' is on tour but looks like we have just about everyone else on the bill, apart from Sammy and Kurt Baumer, from Nashville. Also performing will be The Carlton Jug Band.

More reasons to get of your ... off the sofa.

Apart from the fact that it's a chance to meet up with old and new friends and listen to some good music; there are a couple of other reasons why you might want to ignore the telly - take your slippers back off - and get your body out the door:

Reviews

"Byrne's singularly straightforward lyrics and appealingly unaffected vocal style tie the strands together and make this album a complete, compelling listen. "
Adam Levy Solo songwriter/artist, guitarist with Nora Jones and Tracey Chapman)

"Seamlessly knitting all these songs and styles together is Jim's warm, deep, resonant voice and his immaculately crisp guitar accompaniment. This is no more evident than in the playful, upbeat love song Tell Me You Love Me Again - a personal favourite of mine!"
Eilidh Patterson

"Have to tell you: YOUR NEW ALBUM IS GREAT!!! ... The versatility is fantastic ... The violin at "You don't know" breaks my heart. All in All a complete great album...won't leave my player!"
Sabine. Music Photographer, Germany.

"..it's the sparser tracks like You Don't Know and Tell Me You Love Me Again that really showcase Byrne's considerable guitar-picking talents and writing skills...

On some tracks like Black Sky Blues Byrne plays everything himself - some fine slide guitar is credited to Dexter Slim who, I suspect, isn't a mysterious skinny guy from the backwoods but Byrne himself operating under a pseudonym...

Closing track Beneath These Scottish Skies is a crackin' wee bluegrass party in itself and hints at some of Byrne's past country punk activities...

This is a classy album in every way and should easily bring Byrne the wider recognition he deserves."
