Brilliant, Gayle. I love it.

An example of the types of conversation I often have with my kids: In the car with Olivia and Heather: Olivia: Whenever I think of something then I think about it backwards and then forwards again! How funny is that? Me: What?? I don't really understand what you are saying... Heather: (to Olivia) I don't understand what you are saying! (pause) What does understand mean again? I swear to God sometimes it feels like I'm living in an insane asylum..... Gayle, I've no idea what Olivia is upto with this backwards and forwards stuff but at least she's attempting to analyse it. We have some strange conversations to: On our way home - very late: Ryan: "I think I should be in bed" Ryan:"I think there are ogres in those woods" (I've forgotten what my answers were as this was a few months ago - something reassuring) Ryan:"Gran, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Too gobsmacked to answer properly but I think the anwer would have to be 'No, probably not".
What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

Few years back, when watching the Descent (thought it was a chick flick about group of smart independent girls bonding over shared hobby...SO wrong...) RT; screams out loud Mizz T; Don't be scared, Mummy, it's not real....

I was sitting next to a little girl at Bingo in my home town. The caller said to her, "Do you know what a BINGO is?" Her answer, "Yes, it's when someone yells Bingo and grandma says, 'Oh Shit'." Classic.

Speakin of grannies, I kinda liked this from the Scottish photies bit of today's BBC news website: She's here from Canada on a visit, those are her grandsons - and yes, she is standing up apparently. Ain't nature clever! Ye just shovel the grub in at one end, and they grow and grow and grow.....

they sure do grow fast.... Big moment today as it was Olivia's first day at school! No tears - all calm and happy (even me) and it looked like she was really relaxed and keen to get into it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Gayle, they are a pair of little beauties. Such intelligence shines from their eyes.

You can see where those big strapping Scots lads got their genes from, eh? My wee mum's 80 this year, still gorgeous but shrinking in height. I know the feeling, cos sans heels I'm 5 fit 6 over her 5 fit 2, and the wean's towering over us at 5 fit 11....and hasn't stopped growing yet. It's well weird having to crane upwards to look into yer wean's face, I tell you.

Flew out to Broken Hill on a small plane (12 passenger). The Captain was 4'11" & had booster cushion to see out front. She said only reason they had hired her was because she could walk upright in cabin.

Ach, Gayle. You didn't cry, not even a bit? You're one strong gal....and Heather looks so proud of her big sis.. The day the wean went to school for the first time, I kept it together till she and her little friends went in and I gret all the way to w*rk, most embarrassingly. Total basket case, I was. Kept happening sporadically over the years, and still does. She's in S4 now. Some days at w*rk I just wanna run to the school gates to meet her, still. But can't, would be too embarrassing in front of her mates!

Gorgeous photos as usual, Gayle. Olivia looks so proud. Is Heather missing her or enjoying having you to herself?
Long, long time since my 'boys' were at school but I remember going up to the school to see my first born not long after he had started. It was play time and he saw me coming and I felt very touched when he started running towards me at great speed. However, it wasn't, as I thought, that he was so pleased to see me - he jumped up and pulled my red beret off my head and said: "put that in your bag". I clearly wasn't fitting into his notion of what a parent should look like!!!
What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

A woman came into the shop to-day with her daughter, I recognised the young'un straight away. ......"Were you in here yesterday?"...."No"...."Recently?"...."No, not for some months".......Scratches head....Then tonight I realize that the girl was Olivia's double, a few years younger, but still...........quite spooky.

No, no tears from me as she seemed so ready to be there (she turned 5 in May so is one of the older ones in the class) and it was so hectic with mums and dads taking photos and younger siblings about etc. I felt a pang when she ran out of the room in the afternoon though cos she looked like such a schoolgirl! All dishevelled from the day, lugging the most enormous school bag and clutching her first school drawing to show me. Heather had a bit of a hard time on monday morning as all the attention was on Liv so the only tears were from her! Liv is home today as they have wednesdays off for the first month so she is having a good rest. After the heat last week and 2 full days of school she is pretty worn out

What a set of blue eyes! And those eyelashes...sigh...I wish I had lovely long eyelashes. She's definately got an impressive 'do'. And a very intense stare
