one of my fav movies is Born Free , hav it on vid and still watch occasionally. Also the Parent trap is an old favourite in this house, the grandweans "act the parts" honestly !! they are nearly word perfect if the sound is turned down. Lawd knows why , but we like it. Bridget Jones diary made me laff out loud as did my sis when we seen it (if u knew her u would know that was unusual)

QUOTE (luckycue) 40.ooo horsemen. never heard of it, who was in it?
QUOTE At the time of its release, 40,000 Horseman was acclaimed as one of the best (if not the best) production to emanate from Australia. Set during WWI, the film is a tribute to the Australian Light Horse regiment, who distinguished themselves while encamped in Palestine on behalf of the British Empire. All such trivialities are forgotten during the spectacular cavalry-charge sequence which closes the film. The screenplay for 40,000 Horseman was written by the wife of director Charles Chauvel
Starring: Grant Taylor, Betty Bryant, Chips Rafferty, Pat Twohill, Harvey Adams

1. Alien, Alien 2, Alien Resurrection
'Alien' was a better movie experience because it was so different and original. 'Alien 2' was a better film, but didn't have the impact of the original. 'Alien Resurrection' is just awesome on the visceral emotional level. Not what you'd call enjoyable, but very, very powerful stuff.
2. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Can you believe that James Caan turned down the lead role? I actually think he'd have been better than Jack Nicholson. That said, Nicholson was very, very good in the role.
3. Godfather 2. Filmmaking at it's sublime best.

QUOTE (Daggy) The Deer Hunter
Braveheart
Tombstone
Moulin Rouge
Heat
The Last Samurai
All on my shelves, I watched the Last Samurai again on Sunday afternoon, Its an exceptionaly tender film. I'm a sucker for Samurai movies, I guess it dates back to the days when the telly ran a season of Akira Kurosawa. I'd watch Toshiro Mifune make toast.
Many years later I saw Ran & Kagemusha in the GFT. I picked up "Shogun" last year for £20, great stuff. There was also a nice one on TV recently "The Twilight Samurai"
